The road to AUXC certification is not that complicated, but there are a few steps needed to get the ball rolling…
First off: Register for an account with FEMA and get an SID:
THEN: take the FREE online classes for ICS100, ICS200, ICS700 and ICS800.
Cumulatively, they will take you less than 2 hours.
Once you have THOSE prerequisites, register with TDEM for an account at:
https://tdem.geniussis.com/PublicStudentSignUp.aspx
For your affiliation, if you are in Harris County, choose Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, if you serve a different agency, (Local FD, Local EMA) enter THAT.
Then, do a search for AUXC classes available. Right now, they are few and far between due to the Fed stopping all funding for classes, but that will change as states individually begin hosting classes. We are planning on giving an AUXC class at TranStar this Summer, just waiting on TDEM approval.
Harris County Auxiliary Communications is a 501c3 Non-Profit, all volunteer group.
